Big Breakfast Ideas

We've all heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But why is that? At breakfast the food we eat really kickstarts our body and provides it with all the necessary minerals and nutrients for the rest of the morning and well into the day.

A Fruity Bite

Its hard to find time for your own breakfast when you’re busy trying to get everyone else’s ready. But try not to skip breakfast completely. Even a cereal bar or a piece of fruit is a great way to get some early morning nutrition, when you don’t have time to sit down to a full breakfast.

Cereal Sensations

Why not liven up your breakfast by adding some fresh fruit? Slice a banana and add to your cornflakes – or chop up some fresh raspberries to give your porridge a bit of fruity edge.

Vary the fruits and the cereals and treat yourself to a deliciously different healthy combination each day.

Breakfast Beverages

Give the coffee a skip occasionally and opt for smoothie instead. It’s so easy.

Take a low-fat yogurt, blend a handful of fresh strawberries and a small banana into the yogurt – and there you have it – one healthy, tasty and nutritious drink to get your day off to a great start.

A Sizzling Success

Here’s a healthier alternative to that full fry-up. Pop your favourite rashers under the grill. Slice a baguette or a ciabatta in two and toast it. When ready to serve add some tomato and fresh salad leaves to make a really tasty breakfast sambo!

Low in Fat, High in Flavour

Looking for a breakfast idea that’s low in fat and high in taste? Try this: Cottage cheese and fruit. Pick up some low-fat cottage cheese (even standard cottage cheese is generally lower in fat content than most other cheeses.) Simply add any kind of fruit. Apples, citrus, berries, whatever takes your fancy.

Breakfast the way you want it

Breakfast is an important meal. So if you fancy a salad or a sandwich, then go for it. If cereals or toast simply don’t appeal, don’t worry, there are no hard and fast rules about what you have to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
