Staff at the Woodside’s store in Ballyclare have been busy fundraising for local charity Action Cancer, with great results.

More than £700 has been raised for the charity at a recent family fun day and barbeque, which was supported by other local businesses, who donated food and other items. Ninety people attended the event.

Organised by the store’s owner Niall McConkey and his team the funds raised at the fun day will go towards the Action Cancer Big Bus. The unit, which is the first of its kind in Europe, brings a wide-range of early detection and health promotion services into the heart of local communities.

The Ballyclare Woodside’s store is soon to be branded as a SuperValu outlet and will join other SuperValu stores across Northern Ireland as main sponsors of the Big Bus. SuperValu and its retailers have committed over £600,000 to the £1.5 million cost of running it for the first three years.
